Today is going to be the longest work day ever. Since today is my last day before our Aruba trip, they haven’t been giving me many projects -- I was concentrating on completing most of my projects before I leave. So needless to say, today is a pretty chill day and I often find myself staring at my clock. And it’s not even 10am!

I’ve asked one of my co-workers to take over one of my projects while I am gone. Unfortunately (for him), it’s a nasty one. So I predict he’ll be cursing me while I am gone. I also expect my desk to be completely bombarded with new projects when I get back. Typically, whenever new projects come in, we leave it for the person that’s on vacation. It’s our little way of being bitter...

So either my desk will be filled with projects, or it’ll be boobey-trapped or vandalized. Some folks here are notorious for pulling pranks. So I wouldn’t be surprised to find a shoe-box full of feces in my drawer...

So yes, I am very excited for Aruba and I can’t wait. The vacation itself will be nice, but more than anything, I just can’t wait for my wife to stop singing that blasted Beach Boys song! Every night for the past 2 weeks, while we’re lying in bed trying to go to sleep, she busts out that song.

Aruba, Jamaica, ooo I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama

Oh the humanity! Stop the madness!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted pictures, mainly due to the enormous amount of pics I’ve taken the past few months...especially the past few weeks. I haven’t had time to catch up!

But here are some pics from Saturday night (non-SLR camera). Happy 53rd birthday, Scottie!

2 days until Aruba!

I sympathize with those driving east on their way to work and west on their way home from work.  I get a slight taste of this since I live in Palatine...  Before when I lived in Arlington Heights, I used to drive west to work in the mornings, which meant the sun was behind me -- no major bright sun issues.  And then I drove east to go home, with the sun was behind me once again -- so again, no major bright sun issues.  But living in Palatine, I drive east for a little bit to work and west for a little bit home from work.  But man, even though it's a short drive, that sun is so annoying.  It's so stinkin' bright!  Sunglasses don’t do jack. You have to put your visor all the way down, scoot your entire body up, and just keep your eyes fixed on the wheels of the car in front of you.  Man!  And you always have to be prepared before you turn into the sun, because if you're not prepared, BAM!...the sun hits you and you're literally blind for a few seconds and just hope there isn't a car in front of you...  I am so glad I have a short commute.

Oh how I’m becoming old. Before, when picking out sunglasses, I didn’t care about how well it protected me from the sun or UV rays. It was all about how cool it looked on me. But now, I don’t really care about the look or design or how cool they look. I just want sunglasses to protect me from the sun and UV rays! So in about 10 seconds, after I hit the submit button to post this blog, I’m going scour the internet to see if they still make Blueblockers.

edit: Tornado warning in Schaumburg. A tornado was spotted in Rolling Meadows just 5 minutes ago and it's supoosed to hit Schaumburg in 10 minutes. I guess I'm stuck at work...

So the Hanna is making me get a tan from a tanning salon in preparation for our Aruba trip next week. She said that my farmer’s tan won’t look so hot down there... I say tanning salons are for girls. She says tanning salons are for girls and for men with really white chest and stomach areas... So I ask you all. Would you think any less of me if I got a fake tan from a tanning salon?

My face, arms, and legs are already dark -- I’m naturally a dark dude. So if I do lay in one of those tanning beds, is there a way to just concentrate on my chest and stomach area? Hypothetically, of course.

Isn't it funny that no matter how many times you've seen a really good movie, you can watch it over and over again?  And isn't it funny that even if you own the movie on DVD, if you see it playing on TV, you can't help but to watch it?

The other day, I plopped myself on the couch and started channel-surfing.  "The Karate Kid" was playing, and of course I had to sit down and watch it to the end.  Nevermind that it was midnight and I had to sleep -- I had to watch the movie.  If my wife can read her book before falling asleep, then I surely can watch The Karate Kid! I own the DVD, but seeing it on TV is so much more fun -- it's not often one of my favorite movies of all time is randomly playing on TV.

Man, I love that movie.  I still get goosebumps during the tournament scenes when "You're The Best" is playing in the background. That soundtrack rocks!

"You're the best...around!"

"And nothing's ever gonna bring you down!"

Goosebumps, man!

Awesome...  I love it.  That movie is so inspiring.  Daniel Laruso was my hero...  But man...I hated Johnny and his Cobra Kai croonies...especially that scrub that yelled “put him in a bodybag!”
